Test Your Vehicle's Battery Yourself

Knowing the basic functions of your vehicle is important. Do you have a dead car battery? Here is a simple way to test the voltage to help you find out if you need a replacement or not:

Battery Voltage Test

A voltmeter is a simple tool that can be acquired at any home improvement or auto parts store. You can test the voltage of your car battery by setting your voltmeter to measure volts and touching the positive and negative test leads to the terminals on the battery when the car is off. If you get a measurement of 12.4 volts or higher and your car holds the charge then you are good to go. If the measurement reads under 12.4 volts and your car battery isn't holding charge then it's probably time to buy a new battery.
